Phone listings' QR codes cater to smartphones - #qrcodes #qrchat

North Carolina residents are seeing a new feature as they get the latest edition of AT&T's Real Yellow Pages.

Tucked into some advertisements are square graphics, the size of a postage stamp, that look like a tiny crossword puzzle.

AT&T has chosen the Triangle as one of two regions in the nation to test QR codes this year. QR codes, short for "quick response," can be scanned by iPhones and other smartphones to call up coupons, websites and other information about the advertiser on the phone's display screen.

"It really gives life to that print," said Dave Goddard, a Yellow Pages analyst at Simba Information in Connecticut. "Print ads get changed once a year. However, with these codes, an advertiser can constantly change the information digitally." Read More
