When The Web Meets The Real World: Moving Beyond QR Codes - Forbes

This year, smartphone sales will outpace PC sales for the first time. According to Internet guru Mary Meeker, the mobile Internet will surpass the desktop Internet in 2014. Mobile analytics firm Flurry recently reported that people now spend more time using mobile apps than browsing the Web. Sophisticated mobile applications, with the power to do anything from checking the weather to checking you into a hotel, were downloaded more than 10 billion times in 2010 alone. The mobile Internet, exemplified by the smartphones we carry everywhere we go, is driving consumers worldwide to the cusp of something huge.
