Interactive #QR codes put information in your pocket #qrchat #qrcode

At the Colonial House Restaurant and Bar, the codes are on the menu and on table tents. Scan one and you might see a daily special, a holiday promotion or a link to the restaurant’s website or Facebook page.

One code leads to a description of all the bar’s craft beer offerings. Read to the end, and you’ll be prompted to tell your server that you now qualify for a free beer, manager Max Beshara said.

Colonial House also has a QR code on its interstate rest-stop advertisement, taking travelers to its website.

Beshara said the restaurant’s older customer base does not necessarily have smartphones or care about QR codes. But he said the codes are really just for fun at this point, and he’s gotten positive feedback from younger customers.

“They love it,” he said.
