LOCAL MARKET COMPETITIVE FOR BAKERIES

In September 2009, four years after the start of Dave’s Killer Bread, a dominant player in the market, Franz Family Bakery, launched an organic division in Portland called Green Earth Baking. One of its first products is “Great Seed” bread, which Dahl and his brother, Dave, see as a knockoff of their best selling “Good Seed” bread, which is rapidly gaining shelf space and market share.
