On Monday evening at the hip SXSW festival, Microsoft announced the availability of its new Web browser, Internet Explorer 9. Presiding over the launch was corporate vice president of Internet Explorer, Dean Hachamovitch, who, in a reference to the software's use of hardware acceleration on Windows 7 and Vista said that "Our approach was to tap into the PC's power the way it hasn't been before."
Hachamovitch also highlighted the browser's new trimmed-down look. "The browser should be a stage, a backdrop," he said. "We asked, how can IE make sites shine. This informed everything we did."
IE9 will be available for download starting at 9:00 PM Pacific time from Microsoft's "Beauty of the Web" site. Versions will be available in 39 languages, but the software only will run on Microsoft's Windows 7 and Vista operating systems. Read More, Watch Launch Video
