KDLT.com South Dakota News - A QR Code-Guided Tour Of Downtown

Lynn Byrne and Jim Speirs are both longtime residents of Sioux Falls, here to see little touches in buildings they say they'd ordinarily miss.

And while most tours usually have a guide, this one is primarily a self-guided tour, by way of smart phone.

How it works is each featured building has a Q.R. code, that once scanned, sends tour-goers to a website featuring information about renovations and history.

"It's an interesting way to interact with the Internet, in different physical locations,” said Jim Speirs.

"Buildings individually are important, but collectively create community, and that's an important part of downtown, specifically when we're looking at this tour, as well,” said McKillip.

Koch Hazard hopes this integration of technology will help people learn more about their historic city.
If you don't have a smart phone, you can still participate in the tour, just go to www.whyarchitecturematters.com and you'll be able to see the map of all the buildings featured on the tour.
