Heinemann digitises cover with #QR code | The Bookseller

William Heinemann is making a statement with the jacket of its latest book from journalist and freedom of information campaigner Heather Brooke—by embedding a QR code within the design of the front cover.

The Revolution Will Be Digitised investigates how the internet is transforming politics and power, tackling questions about privacy and freedom on the web.

The QR code, which can be scanned by a smartphone and links the device directly to a site with exclusive content about the book—including video, audio, interviews and photographs taken by Brooke—appears as a tattoo on a clenched fist on the cover.

Cornerstone senior designer Jason Smith said the idea was originally to have an image of a barcode on the fist, “because being a child of the ’80s I could visualise that quite easily”, but the benefits of it being a QR code soon emerged. Read More
