To veteran travelers, roads maps are a necessity. Younger people, however, tend to rely on GPS devices and the Internet.
Michigan officials are making the 2011 edition of the state map more relevant to the computer savvy.
Scattered around the map are Quick Response codes. If you have a smart phone like a Blackberry, iPhone or Droid, the QR codes can provide a wealth of information.
"We've added those to the map this year and they're tied closely with the Pure Michigan campaign, the Travel Michigan website," said MDOT director Kirk Steudle.
