The historic Hastings Building in downtown Port Townsend has been selected as one of 100 finalists across the U.S. for the 2011 "This Place Matters" contest put on by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The Hastings Building is listed along with 100 selected properties, and is the subject of nationwide web-based voting during the month of June.
The building that receives the most votes receives a $25,000 grant; smaller sums are awarded to buildings that come in second and third. Everyone can cast one vote during the voting period, said Mari Mullen, director of the Port Townsend Main Street Program, the organization that is sponsoring the Hastings Building application.
