Software Services: What to Expect at CES - CES 2007 by PC Magazine: "Next year is shaping up to be a big year for software services, and some of the early moving and shaking will happen at January Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While many people consider CES a showcase for gadgets, gee-whiz car technology and all breeds of hardware, it is also consistently full of important software services announcements. Microsoft, Yahoo! and many other companies are slated to unveil new offerings, and PC Magazine staff will be on hand to report on them.

At 6:30 p.m. on Sunday January 7th, Microsoft's Bill Gates will kick off the CES keynote schedule by likely talking (again) about Windows Vista, and the software and services being developed for the new system. He is also expected to concentrate on Windows Live, which includes many software services that compete directly with Google's offerings, including e-mail, instant messaging, VOIP, search services and social networking. And, with Microsoft's Zune iPod competitor out, Gates is also likely to talk up the company's Zune.Net music service.

Monday morning at 10:30, eBay will make new announcements regarding its Skype VOIP services, ranging from strategic initiatives to hardware partnerships. Expect Skype to branch out to new kinds of hardware as 2007 begins. " Click Title 2 Read More
