USATODAY.com - CES 2005 Blog: "Hello and welcome to USATODAY.com's CES Blog, straight from the trade-show booths, meeting rooms and gala parties of the annual event, held as ever in Las Vegas. As attendees fly in from around the world, the unusually chilly weather is the topic on everyone's lips. But a long list of debuts, announcements, and news will take center stage once the show opens its doors on Thursday.
Wednesday is press day at CES, and the day's centerpiece promises to be the debut of Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP), the hotly anticipated gaming device that's destined to compete with the Nintendo DS for the soul of the handheld market. That rollout happens at 1 p.m., though some press folk received test units late Tuesday afternoon; expect plenty of furious and highly competitive product-testing as attendees wait in the show's seemingly eternal cab lines.
Our CES coverage will continue through Monday. Weighing in with news, tips and observations will be USA TODAY's Tech team along with myself, and we don't plan to miss anything for the next five days except a good night's sleep. Holding down the fort back home, Shannon Gazze, Beau Dure and the USATODAY.com staff will be pitching in with links to coverage from USA TODAY and the wire services, updating this page whenever news breaks. Stay with us; we'll bring you all of the good stuff from Vegas ? and give you a pass on the cab lines, rainy weather, and aching feet. ?Angela Gunn ? Posted at 2:45 a.m. ET"
