Nikki Inderlied: Sanyo's Eneloop - New Rechargeable Battery

Nikki Inderlied, i4U News Entertainment Journalist, chats with David Isola, Senior Product Manager Retail Sanyo Energy Corporation, about Sanyo's new next-generation nickel metal hydride battery the ‘eneloop’.

Once charged, ‘eneloop’ batteries can be used repeatedly, and once used completely, they can be recycled. The new rechargeable battery can be used like a dry cell battery - ‘immediately after purchase’.

Batteries have a property to release the stored energy in small amounts (this phenomenon is called ‘self-discharge’). This property is particularly noticeable in rechargeable batteries such as Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries etc. as compared to dry cell batteries, hence disabling rechargeable batteries from becoming batteries that ‘customers can use immediately after purchase’. Student to cover electronics show

Student to cover electronics show: "(Daily Oklahoman, The (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Jan. 6--NORMAN -- Nikki Inderlied of Norman remembers her fascination with video games from a very young age.

Bedtime for little Nikki meant Nintendo time for her parents, and she yearned to stay up for the video action.

'I could see from my bedroom her and my dad playing Mario Brothers, and I got so mad because I wanted to play,' Inderlied recalled while looking at her mother, Angela Startz.

Inderlied's interest and skill in video games has landed her in Las Vegas, where she and her mother will report on the annual Consumer Electronics Show for i4u.com, a Web site devoted to electronic gadgets and technology.

The International Consumer Electronics Show, scheduled Monday through Thursday, is an annual event at which companies reveal what's coming next in electronic technology.

Speakers this year will be Dell Computer founder Michael Dell, CBS President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves and U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez.

Inderlied, a sophomore journalism student at Oklahoma City Community College, will interview company representatives for podcasts and gabcasts -- telephone interviews uploaded onto the site." Read More

Ed Bott: My road map for CES 2007

Next week I'll be at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Mostly, I'll be standing in line for a cab or the Monorail, or walking from one booth to another (and given that the exhibit halls cover several square miles, I expect to wear out a whole bunch of shoe leather). Seriously. CES is so spread out that I expect to lose five pounds and wear out my tradeshow shoes over the course of the week.

But for brief intervals, in between all that waiting and walking, I expect to meet with a lot of interesting people to learn what we can expect from the consumer electronics industry in 2007 and beyond. I'll be reporting on the details of those meetings here.

CES Celebrates 40 Years of Technology

Annual gadgetfest adds Tech Emmys to schedule

by Gary Arlen, December 6, 2006

Special to TV Technology

LAS VEGAS

With an estimated 150,000 people cruising more than 2,000 exhibits spread over an area equivalent to 30 football fields, even Karen Chupka admits that the International Consumer Electronics Show can become "cumbersome." As the Consumer Electronics Association's senior vice president of events and conferences, Chupka oversees an extravaganza that has exploded beyond its radio/record-player/TV roots into a gargantuan multiple media phenomenon.

Next month's 40th annual cornucopia of electronic sensations (CES) has even lured an array of "outside" events, such as the Television Academy's Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards ceremony and a cable TV executives' board of directors meetings--adding to the throngs (and taxi lines, too).

Software Services: What to Expect at CES - CES 2007 by PC Magazine

Software Services: What to Expect at CES - CES 2007 by PC Magazine: "Next year is shaping up to be a big year for software services, and some of the early moving and shaking will happen at January Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While many people consider CES a showcase for gadgets, gee-whiz car technology and all breeds of hardware, it is also consistently full of important software services announcements. Microsoft, Yahoo! and many other companies are slated to unveil new offerings, and PC Magazine staff will be on hand to report on them.

At 6:30 p.m. on Sunday January 7th, Microsoft's Bill Gates will kick off the CES keynote schedule by likely talking (again) about Windows Vista, and the software and services being developed for the new system. He is also expected to concentrate on Windows Live, which includes many software services that compete directly with Google's offerings, including e-mail, instant messaging, VOIP, search services and social networking. And, with Microsoft's Zune iPod competitor out, Gates is also likely to talk up the company's Zune.Net music service.

Monday morning at 10:30, eBay will make new announcements regarding its Skype VOIP services, ranging from strategic initiatives to hardware partnerships. Expect Skype to branch out to new kinds of hardware as 2007 begins. " Click Title 2 Read More
